Tracy Himes is an “Eco-Educator”, a newspaper columnist (“In H.O.P.E.”, In Honor of Planet Earth) and a Founding Eco-Consultant for Charlotte NC Chartreuse Products. She finished her first book, “Think Outside The Bin” to promote the topic of Social Recycling and to offer an easy recycling resource for common household items ready to be discarded.

Why Bother?
Verde Mom’s generation has seen, and alas, caused, much of the damage to our planet. The island of plastic trash in the Pacific Ocean, for instance. Most of our grandparents never used plastic, it is our ‘disposable society’ in the last few decades that created the problem, and our trashed plastic is affecting much of the ocean life and its eco-systems. Speaking of waste, the growing landfill near Verde Mom’s home is a constant reminder of the volume of waste we produce and provides this determined Mom with daily motivation to do her part in reducing, reusing and recycling.
The biggest motivation to instigate change should be disease prevention. Sadly, it is so prevalent in our society, that we can now say that Cancer has touched us all. Many of the chemicals that are proven to cause Cancer, Asthma and other diseases and allergies are permeating our homes…and toxic ingredients are found in many of our everyday, trusted brand-name products.
